Cathlean Utzig, CPA, CDFA is the founder and principal of UtzigCPA. Prior to opening her own tax and accounting services firm, Cathlean’s experience includes almost 15 years with national and large regional public accounting firms. Additionally, she has volunteered her accounting skills to nonprofit organizations for over 25 years. Over the span of her career, she has developed a core professional focus of working with individuals and families in transition, providing the extra attention that is needed during stressful times such as divorce, illness and widowhood.
Cathlean is a graduate of Vanderbilt University where she earned her undergraduate degree in Psychology and Math and later earned her Masters of Taxation at Georgia State University. In addition to her affiliations with professional CPA organizations, she is a member of the Institute of Divorce Financial Analysts, the Mecklenburg County Collaborative Law Group, and the Charlotte Estate Planning Council. Cathlean also conducts the nationally acclaimed Second Saturday Divorce Workshop along with a team of attorneys, therapists and financial advisors. The workshop provides a low-cost program where participants can learn more about the legal, financial and emotional issues the family may face during the divorce process.
When Cathlean is not helping others with their financial and tax needs, you can find Cathlean hiking in the mountains, playing with her dogs, or helping her spouse with the family’s new bike shop.
